Aquatics Rules
Pool Rules
- Swimming permitted only when lifeguard is on duty
- Children under 13 years must be closely supervised by an adult everywhere in the aquatics facility
- Non-swimmers may not use inner tubes, armband floats, or any other flotation device for support. Non-swimmers may use a United States Coast Guard approved vest. Non-swimmers who are children must be accompanied in the water by an adult and must be closely supervised at all times.
- Lifeguard whistle blasts signal problems. Stop what you are doing and look to the guard for instruction. 3 whistle blasts signify an emergency. Swimmers must exit the pool immediately.
- All members and guests must shower before entering pool.
- Children who wear diapers are limited to the wading pool and must wear a swim diaper
- Children who want to use the deep end of the pool must first pass the deep water test, which consists of swimming 50 yards without stopping and treading water for 1 minute
- No strollers
- Personal – sized coolers only. No coolers larger than 20 quart- capacity
- Steps and ladders must remain clear at all times
- No diving where prohibited. Starting blocks are for authorized use only
- No running, pushing or horseplay anywhere in the aquatics facility
- No glass, alcohol, animals or smoking
- Inappropriate attire, as determined by Big Vanilla Management, is not permitted
- In the event of an electrical storm the pool and deck will be cleared until 30 minutes after the last strike of lightning
- The Multi-Purpose pool is for individual exercise for members 13 and older and for scheduled classes. It is not for open swim.
- Situations arising and not specifically covered by these rules will be managed by the Aquatics Director, lifeguard, or Big Vanilla Management.
- Failure to adhere to Big Vanilla Aquatic Center rules may result in a loss of pool privileges. Thank you for helping us provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
Wading Pool Rules
- The Wading Pool is not guarded. Parent or guardian (at least 16 years old) MUST remain in the enclosed area with children at all times.
- Children who are still in diapers are limited to the wading pool and must wear a swim diaper.
- Children must be 6 years or younger to use the wading pool.
Failure to adhere to Big Vanilla Aquatic Center rules may result in a loss of pool privileges. Thank you for helping us provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
