Rock Wall and Beyond
Rock climbing is an excellent choice of an alternate form of exercise and activity for kids who are looking for something different! This 2-day series is a unique experience for kids who will be challenged physically and mentally. With a focus on indoor rock climbing, additional physical and mental challenges will be introduced through a variety of fitness activities, games, and group challenges. Help your child gain better problem-solving skills, gain more confidence, increase their self-esteem, and strengthen their team-building skills. This class will really give children something new to talk about at the dinner table! All climbing gear is provided with the exception of climbing shoes. Sneakers and gym attire required. Bottled water recommended.
Rock Wall Certification
Would you like to learn about rock climbing and be able to climb during non-staffed Rock Wall hours? Learn how to tie knots, manually belay, use the automatic belays, basic climbing skills and more. Participants must pass belay test to complete certification. Each class is 3 hours long and includes harness, helmet, and belay device. Participants must register in advance at the Registration Desk or by calling 410-544-2525.

Sneakers and gym attire required. Bottled water recommended.
Cliff Hanging with Dad: A Rock Climbing Adventure for Fathers and Sons

Cliff Hanging with Dad combines indoor rock climbing along with other challenging activities for an evening of fun that encourages the discovery of mental and physical strength, conquering fears, and overcoming challenges. Fathers and sons will create new memories that last a lifetime in this one-of-a-kind program! All climbing gear is provided with the exception of climbing shoes. Sneakers and gym attire required. Bottled water recommended. Fee includes optional belay certification for the parent to allow for manually belaying your own child – this will really enhance this experience! "Women do rock...especially with Suzette and Kate at the helm. I
re-discovered the positive aspects about myself through simply
challenging myself to try something new. Suzette really helped us to
uncover how each one of us approaches life and how we can improve on it.
The other women there were all so supportive, it brought out everyone's
true colors
I highly recommend this fun and wonderful event to everyone!"

"Several words come to mind: awesome, exhilarating, challenging, takes your breath away, character building. I had never tried anything like this before. The experience allowed me to see how I handle new and unfamiliar challenges. While it was a bit scary, reaching the top was fulfilling. I would highly recommend it, as long as you have a strong heart."

"Although I was a bit reluctant to sign up for this event because I have
always lacked strength in my upper arms (never was able to climb the
rope in gymnastics in high school) I am so glad that I did make the
effort to climb the rock wall at Big Vanilla recently. I probably was
the oldest in the group and took the longest amount of time to climb.
However, the group kept cheering me on and encouraging me and giving me
advice which foot to place in which direction. I almost reached the top
and then I "ran out of steam" and struggled. I almost gave up. However,
I rarely if ever give up on anything I start in life. So I stepped down
one peg with both my left and right feet and tried a different approach
and I MADE IT TO THE TOP!!!! However, I did not really like the view
from up that high so I said, "Take my picture and then get me down from
here, please." The first thing I did upon reaching the floor was go to
my purse and get my cell phone and call my son--he works out on a
regular basis at a gym and was really not surprised that I accomplished
my goal. My husband was the next person I called as he was very encouraging.
The days to follow changed--I now feel I can do anything I attempt to do
in life. It is all in my mind and how I allow my brain to talk to
myself. Thanks so much for this awesome experience!"

"I loved "Women Who Rock". Meeting other women and learning how they overcome challenges was great. And all the cheering and support helps you to get to the top of the mountain!" Jennifer Perry
